Deodorizing Code Smells: Best Practices for Workspace Design

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Overview
If it runs and produces the output you need, does that make it a good workspace? Not necessarily! Learn best practices for workspace design and get tips for creating good workflows. We’ll go over problems that can be inadvertently built into workspaces, plus how to identify and fix common pitfalls.

Prerequisites / Level of Difficulty
All levels of FME users. Some knowledge of FME Workbench is expected, but prior training is not necessary. Participants are encouraged to bring their own workspaces for examination and discussion. Please bring a laptop that can connect to Wifi and remote desktop to Windows machines.

To make it easy to set up your laptop, your FME workshop trainers have prepared a virtual machine with everything you'll need including an installation of FME Desktop, FME Server, and/or FME Cloud, and course material.

You can connect to your virtual machine using Remote Desktop Connection software. Remote Desktop Connection is pre-installed on most Windows operating systems. For Mac OS X, you can install "Microsoft Remote Desktop" from the App Store.

If you already have a virtual machine setup from pre-conference training, you do not need to setup another. If not, please set up the virtual machine before the workshop if possible: http://fme.ly/ucvm

The password on the virtual machine is: FME2017learnings
