Powering up your FME Workspaces with Python

Overview
Coders, assemble! Learn how to use simple Python scripts to accomplish tasks beyond what’s possible with standard FME tools and transformers. Through practical coding exercises, you’ll use your powers to execute Python scripts before, after, and during an FME translation, extending your workspace beyond ordinary abilities.

Learning Objectives
  • Understand how and when Python can be used in FME
  • Use Startup and Shutdown Python scripts
  • Use a Scripted Parameter
  • Use the PythonCaller transformer

Prerequisites / Level of Difficulty 
Assumes familiarity with the concepts and practices of FME. Basic programming skills (in any language) are a plus, but not necessary.

Please bring a laptop that can connect to Wifi and remote desktop to Windows machines. A remote Windows machine with FME Desktop will be provided, plus various installations of FME Server and/or FME Cloud.
